Co-curation and exhibition design for "Homage to Humanity" at Fotomuseum Vrijthof in Maastricht.

Fotomuseum Vrijthof, a private photography museum in Maastricht, is known for its diverse and socially relevant exhibitions, including two major shows each year.
Presenting Jimmy Nelson’s expansive collection in the small rooms of a historic building while still capturing the powerful cultural stories in his photography proved to be a significant challenge.
We addressed this by adapting the exhibition design to fit the space. This included strategically placing photographs and creating thematic sections to guide visitors. We also integrated the collages I have crafted Nelson’s book Homage to Humanity to enhance the storytelling and provide context, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience throughout the venue.
As co-curator, I worked closely between the Fotomuseum Vrijthof team and the Jimmy Nelson Studio Team to meticulously curate "Homage to Humanity," an exhibition that took visitors on a geographical journey through Nelson’s lens.
The goal was to celebrate and preserve the diverse beauty and traditions of indigenous cultures through a carefully curated presentation. By organizing the exhibition geographically and incorporating additional visual elements, we aimed to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of Nelson’s work, while engaging visitors in a reflective journey about human heritage and cultural richness.
